February 03 - 14, 2020 - IPEN
Jorge André Swieca Summer School on Experimental Nuclear Physics is a biannual event organized since 1984 by SBF (Brazilian Physics Society), with the aim of providing post-graduation students and young PhD's a closer contact with the most exciting aspects of experimental nuclear physics, from the planning of an experiment to its execution and posterior data analysis. IPEN, being one of the largest nuclear physics related institutions in the country, has hosted this School a few times, the last one in 2006, always focusing on neutron-related physics.
Between February 03-14 2020, IPEN will host the XXI Jorge André Swieca Summer School on Experimental Nuclear Physics, with experiments programmed for both nuclear reactors installed in its premises (MB-01, operating at 100W, and IEA-R1, with a maximum operating power of 5MW).
The experiments shall embrace the following subjects:
- Neutron detection;
- Neutron flux determination;
- Neutron activation analysis;
- Neutron radiography;
- Neutron scattering and diffraction;
- Hyperfine interactions;
- Health-related neutron uses.
Organizing Committee:
Dr. Guilherme Soares Zahn (IPEN-CNEN/SP)
Dr. Paulo Sergio Cardoso da Silva (IPEN-CNEN/SP)
Dr. Cristiano Oliveira (IFUSP)
