The first time was in 1978... About 100 researchers grouped at Cambuquira (MG), for the first National Meeting of Condensed Matter Physics.
Nowadays, the Autumn Meeting of the Brazilian Physical Society congregates a broad community of researchers for one week, every year since then. It is the largest Topical Meeting of the SBF/BPS. The fields of interest (Condensed Matter Physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Optics and Photonics, Plasma Physics, Biophysics and Medical Physics, Statistical Physics and Computational Physics) cover a broad range of themes. Nevertheless, there are many common lines among them that allow the establishment of a broader environment for shared discussions. We aim at the exposure of the researchers to correlated fields, fostering the development of new ideas and news investigation proposals.
The Meeting has been presented in different regions of the country, reaching up to 1,000 enrollments in the live versions. The pandemic outbreak brought the demand for a remote version, that reached 1,330 attendants in 2021. The 45th edition should be brought back to a live meeting, if the sanitary conditions are adequate. We want to bring to the city of São Paulo at the Physics Institute of USP (Rua do Matão, 1371, at the Butanta campus of University of São Paulo), due to its privileged access by road or plane, the broad availability of hotels and places for congress and the high concentration of researchers in this region of the country. The goal is to bring back the researchers after a two years halt in a critical moment to the return of the activities in a perspective of mounting challenges, both in the world and local levels. The conference should take a hybrid format, combining the positive aspects of on-line congress with the unparalleled experience of the live contact for discussions that are brought along the interaction of researcher for one week.
